How Sarah Helps Clients

Sarah Lahlou-Amine is a seasoned appellate advocate and litigation strategist representing clients in appellate and complex litigation and advising on litigation risk management. An accomplished litigator, Sarah’s practice includes commercial disputes, products liability, class actions, business torts, consumer protection, transportation, privacy and cybersecurity, insurance coverage, and other high-stakes matters presenting significant business, regulatory, and reputational risk. She is barred in D.C. and Florida, where she is board-certified in appellate practice and serves as an Executive Council member and Past Chair of the Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section.

Sarah works with companies across industries to develop and execute litigation strategies in bet-the-company cases, class actions, and appeals, with a focus on early case assessment, issue preservation, dispositive motion practice, and appellate positioning. She is frequently engaged to provide second-opinion case evaluations, to collaborate with trial teams to shape legal narratives, and to help clients align litigation strategies with risk tolerance and business objectives. Sarah also maintains an active amicus practice in state and federal appellate courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. And with a deep knowledge of court systems and a background serving on a state court rules committee, she helps clients develop and execute cohesive strategies for rule commenting.

Sarah is a skilled navigator of the business risk landscape and has extensive experience in the substantive and regulatory aspects of insurance. She litigates and advises on matters involving insurance coverage and extra-contractual liability, and she drafts policy language in compliance with governing authorities. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and draws upon her risk management background and business experience deploying and scaling technology-enabled platforms to advise on litigation and regulatory exposure related to emerging technologies, including AI. She helps clients anticipate how courts, litigants, and regulators are likely to scrutinize high-impact business decisions and advises on governance frameworks, documentation practices, and oversight structures designed to enhance defensibility and reduce litigation exposure.

A passionate and award-winning pro bono advocate, Sarah is proud to serve on Buchanan’s Pro Bono Committee. Sarah previously served as Director of the Pro Bono Institute Law Firm Pro Bono Project, where she provided consulting services to Am Law 200 firms worldwide, harnessing data, technology, and effective system design to scale pro bono impact. Sarah has directly represented pro bono clients in a wide array of matters including criminal, housing, veterans, dependency, and domestic violence. With a strong interest in the advancement of systems designed to increase access to justice, Sarah enjoys partnering with corporate clients and legal aid organizations to collaborate on innovative ways to strengthen our communities through pro bono service.
