The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, State College, PA

On August 29-30, 2011, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Shareholders Charles L. Potter and Carl F. Staiger will speak at three breakout sessions as part of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants' 2011 Marcellus Shale Conference.

This two-day event will tap into the tax, accounting and regulatory issues that surround the Marcellus Shale.
On the first day of the conference, Staiger will present "Legal Issues: Oil & Gas Leasing and Structuring," a session that explores emerging trends and fundamental issues impacting in the Marcellus Shale development, including leasing oil and gas rights and the broad-reaching federal and state tax issues impacting oil and gas transactions.

On August 30th, Potter will host a discussion, "Pennsylvania Tax: Current Developments," to review the personal income tax treatment of intangible drilling cost deductions. The session will also review the realty tax transfer involving oil and gas interests, as well as sales tax treatment of production and transportation assets of oil and gas operators.

Later in the day, Potter will participate in the question-and-answer panel "Tax and Operational Issues" to elaborate on the topics he presented in the morning session.
