This panel looked at the current state of the program, including what platforms and transactions are covered, what are not covered, and what to expect when the forms start making their way into the hands of taxpayers. The panel discussed how to report a 1099-DA on a return, what advice to provide regarding an inaccurate 1099-DA, and what the next few years are likely to hold as more transactions are subject to reporting. The panel offered a preview of what to expect when backup withholding expands into digital assets and what the Congressional Review Act resolution means for the future of broker reporting.
