David A. Gurwin, chair of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Technology Transactions Group and its Entertainment and Media Law Group, was recently a guest on the Pittsburgh Technology Council's (PTC) TechVibe Radio podcast, which airs on KQV AM 1410. On the program, the PTC's Jonathan Kersting and Audrey Russo interview local entrepreneurs, business leaders and stakeholders behind the Pittsburgh region's fast-moving technology industry. Gurwin was interviewed as a guest on July 29, 2010. Following the live interview, a part one and part two of the recording were posted to TalkShoe.com.

Gurwin discussed a number of topics over the course of the 30-minute program. Among them were technology, entertainment law and entrepreneurial activity. In regard to entrepreneurial activity, he brought up an important lesson many aspiring and successful entrepreneurs have learned, that having great intellectual property doesn't necessarily mean having a great company. Likewise, Gurwin explained, you can have a great company without necessarily having great IP. He went on to discuss ways to secure funding through venture capital and other means.

Additionally, Gurwin discussed his entertainment technology practice and how his experiences as a professional jazz pianist have provided him with a unique perspective when working with clients in the entertainment technology industry.
