A team of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney litigators — including Wendelynne J. Newton and Samantha L. Southall — secured a dismissal of antitrust claims against firm client Hillandale Farms Inc., in a multidistrict litigation case, noted Law360 on September 26, 2011.

The case, In re: Processed Egg Products Antitrust Litigation, alleged a price-fixing scheme between six companies and the United Egg Association. According to the article, defendants argued that the second amended class action complaint "failed to put forward sufficient evidence that they specifically were parties to the conspiracy."

In his 78-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Gene E.K. Pratter "found that only Hillandale and UEA could show that the allegations against them were not specific enough to proceed," the article concluded.
