PITTSBURGH (November 2022) - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney continues its strategic growth with the addition of Scott Angelo as the firm’s chief information officer. With a continued emphasis on law firm innovation, Angelo is responsible for the design, implementation and management of the firm-wide information technology and risk management platforms.

“As we ramp up to 2023, it was important to the firm to add a dynamic leader like Scott to our team,” said Joe Dougherty, Buchanan’s chairman and CEO. “We are focused on continuing to develop technology in our quest to deliver the best client value and service possible. Scott will help take us to the next level of cutting-edge law firm innovation.”

“We are excited to have Scott join our leadership team,” said Nolan Kurtz, Buchanan’s chief operating officer. “Scott is a leader in creating effective technology solutions for law firms that directly benefit clients. At Buchanan, he will focus on innovation that will support our high-performing culture and will drive value to our clients nationwide.”

Specifically, Angelo will lead the firm’s efforts on technology strategic planning, digital transformation, advanced data management, innovation, and security and data privacy management.

“I look forward to supporting the firm’s strategic plan as we quickly approach 2023,” said Angelo. “It is an exciting time to join the firm as Buchanan continues to increase its focus on how to expand digital innovations and how those solutions will meet the objectives of the clients and the lawyers who serve them.”

Prior to joining Buchanan, Angelo was the chief information and technology officer at global Am Law 100 law firms where he led global technology modernization and digital transformation projects. Notably, he ran a client-facing digital innovation center in Pittsburgh that replaced a formerly decentralized IT department. Additionally, he has extensive experience in building digital centers of excellence for law firms and clients, such as predictive analytics, and robotic process automation that supports business objectives.

In addition to the legal industry, Angelo also has experience supporting the IT platforms of companies in the high-tech manufacturing, government, and financial services industries. He holds an executive MBA from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and a master’s certificate for information systems from George Washington University. He achieved his bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
