WASHINGTON (February 2026) - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney continues to expand its tax practice with the addition of Mario de Castro and Nicole Vorrasi as shareholders in its Washington, D.C. office. De Castro will also practice in the firm's Miami office. 

“Mario and Nicole are excellent additions to our tax practice,” said Lisa Starczewski, shareholder and chair of the firm’s tax section. “They add significant experience to our bench, and they will enhance the firm’s tax capabilities.” 


De Castro advises globally active enterprises and closely held family businesses on tax and related international business and federal regulatory matters. Previously the co-chair of the tax section at a full-service mid-Atlantic regional. law firm, where he was resident in that firm’s Washington, D.C. office. His experience includes inbound and outbound international tax planning and structuring, pre-acquisition planning, supply chain planning, and advising on tax and corporate regulatory matters for clients in a variety of market segments, including private equity, real estate, technology, Fintech, bio-life, cryptocurrency, and defense and service firms, among others.

Vorrasi focuses her tax practice on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, and third-party co-investment arrangements, as well as securities offerings, including associated tax planning, for public and private multinational corporations, closely held companies, S corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, and nonprofit organizations, with an emphasis on private equity funds and their portfolio companies. With more than 20 years of experience, she also counsels clients on integration, operational, and compliance issues, manages complex foreign and domestic tax audits, and represents clients before the IRS, federal agencies, and courts.
