How Sydney Helps Clients

Sydney counsels clients across the health care industry on various regulatory and compliance matters, including state and federal regulations governing surprise billing, telehealth, and fraud and abuse matters. Sydney also assists her clients with reporting overpayments to insurance companies and responding to overpayment audits.

Sydney helps clients at every stage of establishing and operating a health care facility, including but not limited to, ensuring compliance with state specific physical plant requirements, assisting with certificate of need and license applications, and guiding clients on processes related to Medicare enrollment and facility accreditation. Sydney also assists ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) with drafting organizational and operational documents, such as delineation of privileges forms, bylaws, and rules and regulations.

Additionally, Sydney assists health systems with various transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, joint ventures, and other strategic affiliations, and drafts related agreements. Sydney also advises various healthcare entities on corporate issues, including physician recruitment in accordance with the Stark Law and structuring of physician-related arrangements.

Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Sydney was a summer associate in Buchanan’s Philadelphia office. While attending Emory University School of Law, Sydney worked as an extern with Tubi, Inc., where she researched data privacy laws, and served as a research assistant for the Uniform Law Commission, meeting with task forces and state commissioners regarding uniform pandemic laws and drafting memorandum on state emergency laws and price-gouging. Sydney also interned at Atlanta Legal Aid, served as a managing editor of Emory’s International Law Review, and was a member of Emory Law’s Public Interest Dinner series. During Sydney’s senior year at Franklin and Marshall College, she served as an intern with the Lancaster County Drug Court.

Outside the Office

During her free time, Sydney enjoys spending time with friends and family (including pets!), trying new workout classes, and traveling as much as she can. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Sydney is an avid Philadelphia sports fan and one of her favorite things to do is go to an Eagles game. Sydney remains committed to exploring her city like a tourist by trying different restaurants, seeing new exhibits, and attending various events in the city.
