How James Helps Clients
James F. Tafelski is a civil litigator representing healthcare providers and other commercial clients in complex litigation. He represents long-term care providers, assisted living facilities, health systems, hospice agencies, and other medical providers in a wide range of litigation matters. In addition to defending healthcare providers, James assists a broad spectrum of commercial entities.
A former prosecutor, James works on issues ranging from COVID-19, veil piercing, alleged corporate and facility negligence, enforcing arbitration agreements, understaffing claims, and e-discovery. James has litigated healthcare and negligence matters in both trial and appellate courts, and enjoys staying up-to-date on legal issues facing the industry nationwide.

James makes a point to have direct conversations with clients regarding their needs and expectations. He often jokes that he starts thinking about his cases when he wakes up, and stops when he falls asleep. James appreciates that emergencies can happen at any time, and that they all need to be attended to appropriately. James has a clear communication style, well fit to dispelling any potential ambiguities in the legal issues facing his clients.

Outside the Office
James and his wife, Renata, live in Perrysburg, Ohio, with their beloved pup, Barry. Outside of work, James loves cooking for Renata, walking with Barry, and exploring the latest Toledo hidden gems. An avid sports fan, he follows basketball, football, and baseball, never missing the radio call for his Cleveland Guardians. His favorite activity, though, is simply relaxing at home with Renata and Barry.
