TAMPA, Fla. – July 2, 2019 – Buchanan proudly announces that Hala Sandridge, shareholder and co-head of the firm’s Tampa office, takes the office of president of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization, whose mission is to provide greater access to justice. Sandridge is a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow and a member of the Foundation’s Bronze Society for lifetime giving. Buchanan is a member of the Legacy for Justice and the Platinum Lifetime Giving Society.

“I am deeply honored to serve The Florida Bar Foundation as president for the next year. I deeply believe in the organization’s mission and plan to continue the tremendous work of my predecessors to ensure Floridians have greater access to our legal system,” said Sandridge.

Sandridge is the chair of the firm's Appellate Practice group and a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. She focuses on all facets of civil appeals and has directly handled hundreds of appeals in both state and federal courts. With more than 30 years of appellate experience, Sandridge has produced some of Florida’s most significant appellate decisions, including cases certified by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals to the Florida Supreme Court and in the United States Supreme Court.

Sandridge is also a strong supporter of pro bono legal services and continues to provide free appellate legal services to low-income people. In this regard, Sandridge was instrumental in creating the courthouse assistance project at the Hillsborough County Courthouse, which assists pro se litigants in navigating the court system.

Sandridge is a recipient of numerous pro bono and legal awards and received a gubernatorial appointment to the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission since 2014. She also previously served in various positions within The Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section, including Section Chair.
