Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a proud sponsor of the Pittsburgh Technology Council's Venture Out 2010 — a series focusing on supporting the efforts of regional entrepreneurs to secure high risk growth capital by providing training, networking and direct exposure to local, national and international investors. The series will run March 31 through December 8, 2010. In addition to serving as a sponsor of the series, Buchanan professionals will serve as speakers at the May 13, July 22 and December 8 sessions.

In this session, Buchanan's Jeremy Garvey — a shareholder in the Corporate Finance & Technology Section and a member of the firm's Venture Capital and Emerging Companies Group — will moderate a panel that includes: Jessica Trybus, CEO, Etcetera Edutainment; Michael Matesic, President & CEO, Idea Foundry; and Andrew Kuzneski, Principal, Kuzneski Financial Group. The panel will address the following questions:

  • What mistakes have entrepreneurs made in trying to raise money?
  • What advice would angels and entrepreneurs give to a CEO looking to raise money in the current environment?
  • What are the elements of a great business plan from the investor's point of view?

In this session, Buchanan's Tom Buchanan — a shareholder in the Corporate Finance & Technology Section — will moderate a panel that will feature several success stories from Pittsburgh entrepreneurs that have pulled down funding for their venture. Panelists include: Raymond Vennare, CEO, ThermalTherapeutic Systems; Kevin Stecko, Founder & President, 80s Tees; Michael Kopelman, Principal, Edison Ventures; and Jeffrey Ford, Partner, Grossman Yanak & Ford LLP.
