Pittsburgh, PA, June 4, 2009 — Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today the addition of Charles L. Potter, Jr., to the firm's Tax section. Potter joins the firm as a shareholder and, in addition to his tax practice, will focus on matters relating to the energy, utility, and oil and gas industries. Prior to joining Buchanan, Potter spent several years as a member of the Tax Practice in the Pittsburgh office of Pepper Hamilton LLP.

Potter frequently speaks on state and local tax matters and has substantial experience in the oil and gas industry. He is co-author of the Guidebook to Pennsylvania Taxes, published annually by CCH Incorporated.

Charles L. Potter, Jr., concentrates his practice on taxation relating to energy, natural resources, sports, and trusts and estates. He helps clients form strategies to minimize state and local tax burdens through a restructuring of their corporate groups. He also assists public utility groups and others with state tax return matters, audits, administrative state tax appeals and appeals of state tax matters to the courts. With regard to the oil and gas industry, Potter organizes oil and gas drilling programs for clients and assists them in other aspects of oil and gas production.
