PHILADELPHIA – June 6, 2022 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is pleased to announce that Lloyd Freeman, the firm’s Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, has been appointed to Philadelphia Ballet’s board of trustees.

One of the premier ballet companies across the country, Philadelphia Ballet offers a diverse repertoire of classic and innovative work to the Philadelphia region and beyond. In addition to showcasing world-class artists, the organization also develops and nurtures local talent through the School of Philadelphia Ballet, which offers high-caliber dance education to young artists. Philadelphia Ballet is also known for its award-winning Community Education and Public Programs, which engage local schools and organizations to offer students a variety of cultural activities, the majority of which are free of charge.

“I am thrilled to join the established Philadelphia Ballet board of trustees. I am a longtime patron of the performing arts and look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members to ensure these essential cultural programs continue to be amplified throughout our community,” Freeman said.

“We are so excited to have Lloyd Freeman officially join the Philadelphia Ballet Board of Trustees this coming fall. Lloyd brings to our organization an extraordinary depth of experience stemming from volunteer leadership work as chairman of Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region and as president of the Garden State Bar Association, among his other areas of community involvement. He also brings much sought-after skills to the Board from his professional life as an attorney and marketer and as a thought leader in the sphere of diversity, equity, inclusion, and representation. We are honored to welcome Lloyd and his wife Ebony to the Philadelphia Ballet family,” said Shelly Power, The Dr. Carolyn Newsom Executive Director, Philadelphia Ballet.

Freeman’s term will begin in September 2022.
