TAMPA, Fla. - May 12, 2015 - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney attorneys Mathew H. Meade and G. Calvin Hayes were featured speakers at a Cyber Security Symposium for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) held at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa. At the May 6 CLE, topics included: Cyber Security and the Economy; Security Components; Remediation; Merchant Accounts and PCI Compliance; Protection Strategies; and Cyber Liability Insurance. The program has been submitted for (5) hours of Technical Business CPE credit and Florida CLE credit.

A recent study revealed Tampa was the most hacked city in the nation. A security breach can have disastrous effects on a company’s operation, profitability and reputation. This seminar focused on ways of protecting business, data and corporate files while remaining compliant with various regulations. In addition, Meade and Hayes addressed methods of recovering from a data breach.

Hayes and Meade also spoke at a May 7 seminar where they addressed the Florida State Tax Collector’s Association on the same subjects. The Tax Collectors are intimately involved in direction, planning, organization, budgeting and implementing policies which affect both local and state government. The presentation provided valuable information to the members of the association for the wide array of issues they deal with and the sensitive nature of their data.
