A recent Law360 article highlights a victory for firm client, SimpleAir, who is represented by Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Shareholders Charles F. Wieland and Robert G. Mukai. On Thursday, January 22, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board struck down Google’s Covered Business Method Review, a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office post-grant proceeding which determines the validity of a patent, which the company brought upon SimpleAir’s network messaging patent to avoid an $85 M dollar Eastern District of Texas judgment, reports the article.

“Google had sought to negate a March jury verdict that it infringed the patent for so-called push notifications that alert users of computer devices when email or other new messages are received,” Law360 writes.
