John A. "Jack" Barbour, CEO of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney and a member of the firm's Real Estate Section, was noted in a May 11, 2010, article published in The Legal Intelligencer. The article, titled "Firms Readying for Real Estate Work, Not Market, to Rebound," took a look at the current commercial real estate market, in regards to the legal industry.

As explained in the article, "Real estate practices have been retooled and are starting to gear up for a new kind of work. At least that is the hope after several firms saw a decline in real estate work between 2008 and 2009." The article went on to name Buchanan as one of Pennsylvania's top ten largest firms, noting that real estate work at Buchanan has held steady over the last two years.

The article went on to note that while "Barbour said he doesn't expect a comeback in real estate finance by midyear, he said earlier this year that he is looking at hiring real estate and corporate finance attorneys to prepare for what he thinks will be growth in those practices in 2011 and 2012."
