Marnie George and Mallory Harrell, Senior Advisors in the firm's Government Relations practice, will celebrate client Maura's Voice, a research foundation set up at Florida State University to study aggression, violence and mental health. In addition to providing introductions to lawmakers and government leaders, our pro bono efforts focus on providing legal and legislative guidance to the family as it relates to protecting sensitive public records.

On Monday, March 4, Maura's birthday, Maura's Voice officially launched at a 10 a.m. press event on the steps of the Florida Historic Capitol in Tallahassee, in addition to other launches in Atlanta GA and San Francisco, CA.

As a result of our efforts, a presentation on violence against women is scheduled before the Senate Legislative Committee on Children, Families and Elder Affairs. Presenters include Jeff Binkley, Maura's father, and the nationally recognized experts involved in this effort.

Last year on November 2, Florida State University student Maura Binkley of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tallahassee's Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, Chief Medical Officer for Capitol Health Plan, Inc., were executed, and five others were wounded, in Tallahassee at a Friday evening yoga class by a man who was a member of an "INCEL" group, an online subculture that promotes violence against women.
