A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Sydney Normil’s law experience stems from working as an intern at PPG Industries. In her role, she researched and drafted memoranda regarding antitrust, human trafficking, consumer product safety compliance and force majeure clause.
Sydney was also a certified legal intern at her law school’s Securities Arbitration Clinic where she represented small investors in FINRA Arbitration on claims of unsuitability, breach of contract and fiduciary duty, misrepresentation and unauthorized trading. Additionally, Sydney contributed to an amicus brief on behalf of a petitioner to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Sydney was a member of Buchanan’s 2015 Summer Associate Program, where she researched and drafted memoranda on judicial recusal, environmental equipment taxation, the relationship between a private university and its student and the validity of ante nuptial and marital property agreements. She also produced client alerts regarding Health Care Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) breaches and sexual orientation discrimination protection in Pennsylvania municipalities.
She received a Frédéric Eisemann Award Team Orals Honorable Mention in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Excellence in Arbitration Advocacy Award in the St. John’s Securities Dispute Resolution Triathlon.
Prior to joining Buchanan, Sydney also served as a Legal Research Fellow at her law school and a paper chase anchor for JURIST – a web-based legal news and real-time legal research tool. She also was an intern for Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office where she prepared and organized docket folders utilized by the Assistant District Attorneys during court hearings and trials.
