With over 29 years of paralegal experience, Rachel is a highly productive self-starter with an extensive understanding of healthcare transactions including mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, and joint ventures; corporate and regulatory compliance; due diligence; all aspects of contract drafting, including asset purchase and divestiture agreements, affiliation agreements, employment agreements, service line professional service agreements, practice lease agreements, as well as all ancillary agreements related to the particular transaction.  She also has vast experience in contract management and administration.  In addition, Rachel has expansive corporate experience, particularly with non-profit corporations and obtaining tax exempt status and corporate governance.

Prior to joining Buchanan in 2000, Rachel served as the Contract Administrator and Senior Paralegal for the University of Pennsylvania, Office of General Counsel and was a recipient of, as a member of the legal team, the 1999 UPHS Quality Award in the area of Health System Integration Across Entities for the publication, “A Guide to Legal Issues in Health Care.

Outside the Office 

Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends.  She enjoys listening to music, reading, exercising, cooking, and playing poker.

In addition, Rachel is on the board of the nonprofit corporation, Smoke is Cancer, which, in addition to providing education on the dangers of open burning, provides needed assistance to individuals battling cancer.  She also volunteers her time to assist those in need with managing/budgeting their finances, grocery shopping, and running errands.  Rachel also supports various causes including her community food banks, domestic violence shelters, and Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center.
