Pittsburgh Business Times Notes Michael P. Strazzella’s Comments During Affordable Care Act Panel

On September 18 Michael Strazzella participated in a panel at the Duquesne Club to discuss the impacts of the Affordable Care Act for Western Pennsylvania businesses, reported the Pittsburgh Business Times in a recent article titled, “ACA Panel Discusses Impact on Western PA.”

Joining Strazzella on the panel was Rick Galardini, chairman and CEO of JRG Advisors LLC and A.J. Harper, president of the Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania.

Strazzella told the panel that he still doesn’t know how business owners with 50 or fewer employees can understand exactly what the ACA will mean for their business.

Another point Strazzella made during the panel discussion was that many employers typically automatically react to legislation passed through Congress by trying to limit the impact. Therefore, he feels that employers might “take a step back, and may decrease the number of employees they have working over 30 hours who would be eligible for coverage until they get a better understanding of how it will impact their particular business,” reported the article.
