How Patricia Helps Clients

Patricia is a veteran paralegal who leverages about 20 years of experience in her work in Buchanan’s Intellectual Property section. She has an extensive understanding of both U.S. and foreign trademark offices, which helps her manage clients’ trademark portfolios for maintenance filings; assist with Assignment and Chain of Title issues; help with the filing of foreign maintenance and annuity documents worldwide; and assist with foreign assignment and foreign chain of title issues.  She also has experience with litigation matters and inter-parties proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Patricia had several years of experience in the litigation arena, and her work included drafting pleadings and motions, and conducting research of case law via Westlaw.

What Clients Can Expect

Patricia assists clients in securing and maintaining U.S. trademark rights, electronic filings, United States Customs recordations, recordation of assignments, and other various chain of title issues with the Assignments Division of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is both responsive and accurate, so she is adept at providing invaluable guidance for issues like possible evidence of use, and definition of current and acceptable use, as seen by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Outside the Office

When she’s not working, Patricia loves spending time with her husband and their children, as well as their three dogs. She enjoys reading and traveling, and also dedicates time to her church and a variety of charitable organizations that her family supports. Every year, she participates in The Big Give, which is a full day of charitable activities throughout Northern Virginia.
