How Michael Helps Clients

Michael focuses his intellectual property practice on drafting and prosecuting patent and trademark applications. He is a registered patent attorney with a background in chemical science and engineering. In addition to patent and trademark prosecution, he has experience rendering patentability and invalidity opinions. Michael has experience in working in a wide range of fields and industries, including: advanced materials, biotechnology, carbon reduction, catalysts and catalytic processes, electrochemical medical devices, food and drinkware, industrial mechanical devices, paints and coatings, pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, sporting goods and recreation, and water purification and treatment.

He was a member of the firm’s 2020 Summer Associate Program, where he utilized his research and writing skills to complete a wide variety of projects. Prior to joining Buchanan, he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Dwayne Woodruff in the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. In law school, Michael was a Senior Research Editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review, and also served as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Analysis & Writing.

Outside the Office

Michael enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends. He is a Pittsburgh sports fanatic and loves supporting the Pittsburgh Panthers. Michael also dedicates his time to coaching lacrosse at Bethel Park High School.
