Martin is a commercial litigator who represents companies across the country. His practice focuses on civil business litigation and dispute resolution. Martin has experience representing entities in state and federal court as both defendants and plaintiffs. He has prosecuted breach of contract and fraud actions, litigated insurance coverage disputes, and mitigated defendants’ liability before and during lawsuits. 

Prior to embarking on a legal career, Martin worked in the sales and marketing departments of two of the largest power tool manufacturers in the world. While in law school, he added to his industry experience by earning a business law certificate. Those experiences allow Martin to bring a certain level of business acumen to the clients he serves.

Outside the Office

Martin was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois where he attended on a Chick Evans Scholarship. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, exercising, and watching the Bears and Illini.

Proof Points

• First chaired and won a regulatory citation trial on directed verdict. 

• Drafted a winning motion for summary judgment and a winning motion to reconsider which culminated in the complete dismissal of a venue owner who was sued after two plaintiffs were shot in his facility. 

• Successfully prosecuted a veil piercing claim after a serial entrepreneur incurred a significant accounts receivable balance.
