Joseph E. Devine, III.

Joe serves as an in-house attorney for the Firm’s Office of General Counsel.  He provides guidance to Firm attorneys and government relations professionals on various issues related to risk management and ethical obligations within the context of applicable Rules of Professional Conduct and Lobbying Disclosure Laws.  Joe reviews, approves and negotiates various agreements on behalf of the Firm including engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, requests for proposals and waiver agreements.  For the past several years, he has counseled new attorney hires and departing attorneys on fiduciary, ethical and contractual obligations.  He has presented on a nationwide panel for the Firm’s malpractice carrier at its biennial Firm Administrative Conference in addition to presenting for continuing legal education seminars hosted by the Firm.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Joe was a litigator where a substantial part of his practice focused on Pennsylvania state and federal appellate matters related to commercial litigation, criminal defense and civil rights claims.
