As we reported back in August, Nicole L. Borda — an associate in the Litigation Section of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Harrisburg office — was named one of Central Penn Business Journal’s 2009 Forty Under 40 award recipients for her commitment to business growth, professional excellence and the community, specifically in Dauphin County. Borda and the other recipients were honored at an October 23, 2009, reception and awards program at the Hilton Harrisburg.

Following the event, Borda and the other award recipients were featured in a special supplement to the October 30 edition of the Central Penn Business Journal. A photo and profile on Borda were published in the supplement, titled "Forty Under 40 Judges." In it, Borda discussed how she thinks her generation gets a bad rap.

"The 20-30-something generation has been unfairly characterized as a generation that wants everything to come easy," she said. However, as noted, looking at the long list of organizations Borda is involved with "one would think she is single-handedly trying to change that view."

In addition to her employment and commercial litigation practice at Buchanan, Borda is also president of Harrisburg Young Professionals and past president of the Notre Dame Club of Harrisburg. In addition, she helps raise funds for scholarships with the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology Honorary Alumni Association, assists with PR for the Harrisburg Public Safety Advisory Committee and volunteers for the United Way of the Capital Region Bridges Society.
