Alexandria, VA, January 29, 2010 — Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney was recently named among the top US law firms in the IP Law & Busines' report on "Who Protects Innovation in America: Where the Top Companies Turn." The rankings were based on the number of times the firm was cited by Fortune 100 companies in a 2008 survey.

"We are proud to have earned the trust of our Fortune 100 clients," stated Patrick C. Keane, co-chair of Buchanan's Intellectual Property Section. "We offer our intellectual property clients — from large international corporations to high growth entrepreneurial businesses — depth and capacity that few other law firms can match," he added.

According to the report, IP Law & Business used Thomson Reuters' Monitor Suite to analyze which firms handled the most IP litigation and patent prosecution work for Fortune 100 companies. To qualify in the litigation category — which includes copyright, patent, trademark and general IP litigation — a firm had to be among the top ten firms cited by a company for handling at least two matters during that year. In patent prosecution — which covers applications, assignments, and granted patents — a firm had to be in the top five cited by a company for handling at least one matter.
