May 20, 2013 – Philadelphia, Pa. – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today that Shareholder John R. Washlick has been re-elected to the Board of Directors and has been named Chair of the Health Law Section for the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA). Washlick was appointed to this leadership role at the NJSBA Health Law Section Annual Meeting & Convention at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey May 16-18. The Health Law Section was created to keep its members informed of frequent changes in laws and regulations affecting the provisions of health care services through programs, conferences and publications. When his term commences in June, Washlick will become the 24th section chair since its founding in 1985. Washlick has been a board member of the section since 2006.

“I am honored to be named chair of the Health Law Section for the NJSBA,” said Washlick. “In my coming term, I hope to continue to develop new programs and opportunities for members to stay current on the legal trends and happenings throughout the healthcare industry. In particular, I look forward introducing a mentoring program this year that will enable our more seasoned health care attorneys to provide advice and guidance to our younger members.”

Washlick focuses his practice on health care transactions and corporate compliance. He counsels clients ranging from hospitals to entrepreneurs on matters such as professional service agreements, physician recruitment incentives, state and federal fraud and abuse and anti-referral prohibitions, management and provider contracts, and patient health care information privacy under state law and HIPAA. He has particular knowledge in the areas of tax-exempt and non-profit law, health care mergers and affiliations, as well as joint ventures.

In addition to his duties with the NJSBA, Washlick also serves on the Board of Directors of the American Health Law Association, Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Healthcare Law Section and Chair of the Health Law Committee for the Camden County Bar Association. Washlick holds a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law and an LL.M in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center.
