PITTSBURGH – June 18, 2021 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Labor & Employment attorneys, Jaime Tuite, shareholder and head of the Pittsburgh office and Vanessa Wilson, associate, succeeded in securing dismissal of 10 of the 11 claims raised against client, EQT Production Company (formerly Rice Energy) in a wrongful termination case brought by a former executive.

Specifically, the Court relied upon the clear, unambiguous provisions in the stock award agreements regarding (1) at will employment; (2) forfeiture upon termination; and (3) the requirement that any amendments to the award agreements be made in writing and signed by both in support of its ruling in this matter.

“This result demonstrates that the Court will not allow claims barred by the clear documentation to proceed even at the motion to dismiss stage. We are pleased we were able to deliver this result for our client and we look forward to getting a complete dismissal of the suit at the summary judgment phase,” said Tuite.
