PITTSBURGH – May 13, 2019 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney launches workWell, an innovative firm-wide initiative designed to promote well-being among its lawyers, professionals and staff. The program is part of Buchanan’s commitment to the American Bar Association’s Well-Being Pledge, which promises a proactive and dedicated focus on wellness education, resources and policies for everyone throughout the firm.

"Our attorneys, professionals and staff are the lifeblood of our firm. We are dedicated to providing them with the support and tools to successfully navigate the high-impact, high-stress environment of our industry," said Joseph A. Dougherty, Buchanan’s CEO and Managing Director. "I felt very strongly about not only signing onto the ABA Well-Being Pledge, but working with dedicated shareholders as well as our human resources team to design and implement a program to help all our employees live a happier, healthier and more balanced life – mentally and physically."

Buchanan is launching the program this month to all its offices via several engaging, internal communications campaigns. The initiative is intentionally holistic, focusing on all aspects of employee well-being, addressing physical and mental health, stress relief, nutrition and fitness. Buchanan employees will have unlimited access to wellness articles, books, online classes, podcasts, inspirational tips and mobile apps. The firm is partnering with a third-party wellness company to live stream a desk wellness program for all employees focused specifically on nutrition, fitness, mind and body.  Each of Buchanan’s offices will also have programs and events related to these topics.

"Our attorneys hold themselves to very high standards in order to achieve great results for our clients. That pressure to perform perfectly often does not result in a healthy lifestyle. I am proud that Buchanan has taken this important step in helping our employees by providing tools and resources to help them find a better life balance. It’s good for everyone, including our clients." added Jacqui Fiske Lazo, shareholder and leader of the workWell program at Buchanan.
