Andrew Cheslock, counsel in the firm's Intellectual Property section, is featured in Law360's article "Buchanan Ingersoll Adds Ex-Foley & Lardner IP Atty in Va." The article highlights Andrew's unique perspective, including Andrew's commentary:

“As odd as it may sound, I really enjoy studying what we call ‘prior art,’” said Cheslock, who trained as a computer engineer before going to law school. “Studying claims … really understanding the technology, talking to experts and getting into the technical details.”

“It affords me the opportunity to use what I’ve always been well-known for, which is to pick up a technology ... interface with the technology experts and turn that understanding into legal action,” Cheslock said. “It’s not the pure, regular definition of litigation and it’s not getting patents at the patent office; it’s a nice combination.”
