Washington, D.C., January 11, 2012Dennis K. Moyer, one of Washington, D.C.'s most experienced real estate lawyers, has joined Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, as a shareholder in its Real Estate and Financial Services practice.

"Buchanan's integrated approach to handling complex matters for financial institutions, private investors, real estate clients, developers and public finance entities is what led me to become part of this growing practice," said Moyer. That focus also led Real Estate and Finance Shareholder William Basil to join the firm in D.C. last spring. Basil was with the Arent Fox law firm and Moyer was most recently with the Washington office of Goulston & Storrs. More than 80 of the firm's 450 lawyers practice Financial Services, Bankruptcy and Real Estate, and the firm continues to attract lawyers seasoned in the area of financial services and real estate in the D.C. area.

"The firm is committed to strengthening its foothold in D.C.," stated CEO and Managing Shareholder Jack Barbour. "Our integration of financial services and real estate mesh perfectly with Dennis' background in handling commercial financing and real estate from both sides of the transaction," he added.

With 30+ years of experience in commercial financing and real estate acquisition, development, financing and leasing matters, Moyer has counseled real estate developers, investment trusts, private investors and joint ventures as well as corporate tenants government agencies, real estate brokers, lenders and borrowers. He has been recognized as a leader among his peers in Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and Chambers USA for several years, and was named in Washingtonian's "Top Lawyers" list in 2011.

Moyer served as co-chair of the Real Estate Section of the District of Columbia Bar and as a member of the Advisory Committee for the District of Columbia Bar's Community Economic Development Pro Bono Project. He provides pro bono representation for N Street Village and the Trust for the National Mall. Moyer received his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. degree, with high distinction, from the University of Virginia.
