Following the recent revision of Form I-9, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has updated many additional forms. Form revision is a common occurrence, and many times previous versions continue to be accepted. However, in many cases, such as the I-9, using the correct version of a form is very important. Among the forms recently updated are the following:

  • Form G-1145, e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance;
  • Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card;
  • Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions; and
  •  Form I-912, Request for Fee Waiver.

Some, but not all, prior versions of most of these forms will continue to be accepted, though new information was added to the latest versions. The new I-90 and I-829, specifically, now contain a notice to applicants in accordance with the recent implementation of identity verification at USCIS interviews: “At the time of any interview or other appearance at a USCIS office, USCIS may require that you provide biometric information (e.g., photograph, fingerprints) to verify your identity and update your background information.”

Form versions are one of the many small details of immigration applications that can be easily overlooked. Filing the incorrect version of a form can significantly delay case processing, and so it is important to always confirm that you are using the correct form.
