On Friday August 9, 2019, Shareholder and Immigration Practice Chair Chris Thorn and Associate Rob Holland participated in 2019’s Lavender Law Career Fair.  The Fair is a capstone event for Lavender Law’s annual conference on LGBTQ+ legal issues.  This year there was a substantial increase in participation by the number of diverse law students and attorneys attending the Career Fair and the number of law firms seeking diverse candidates. 

Buchanan’s participation in, and sponsorship of, the Fair firmly places it on the cutting edge of law firm diversity efforts, and Chris and Rob well-represented us in this recruiting effort.  Candidates left discussions impressed by our Mansfield Rule certification (requiring consideration of at least 30% women, LGBTQ+, minority and disabled lawyers for senior associate and lateral shareholder hiring pools, and for significant leadership roles) and the firm’s perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s LGBTQ Corporate Equality Index.  BIPC looks forward to continuing these and other events as we continue to move Forward Together towards a better Buchanan!
