Pittsburgh – October 16, 2014 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC today announced the appointment of Michael J. Pauvlinch as Chief Financial Officer. Pauvlinch, the former Director of the firm’s Litigation Section, will succeed longtime CFO Miles H. Simon, who is retiring and will remain a consultant to the firm.

“Miles has been an invaluable asset to the firm for many years and has built a strong financial foundation that we believe Mike will continue to develop,” said Jack Barbour, CEO, Managing Director, and Chairman of the Board. “Mike has played a critical role in the growth and success of our litigation section, and I am confident that his strategic mindset and strong financial background will translate well into his new role as CFO.”

“In today’s competitive legal landscape, I understand how critical it is for our firm to continue to make intelligent financial decisions that will deliver immediate results, as well as long-term growth,” said Pauvlinch. “I look forward to working closely with firm leadership to develop strategies that will achieve both of those goals.”

As the director of the firm’s Litigation Section, Pauvlinch managed the section’s day-to-day business operations and guided and implemented its strategic plan. He was also responsible for the firm’s Litigation Technology Support Group and the Litigation Section paralegals, and he operated as the lead member of the firm's E-Discovery Team.

Pauvlinch began his career in the legal industry when he served as the Pittsburgh office administrator for a New York-based, AmLaw 100 firm for 13 years.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the Pennsylvania State University.
