Counsel for a Virginia-based electric cooperative engaged Buchanan through the SLR program for legal representation to defend the appeal of a state environmental permit. The permit was required in order for the client to construct an $800 million gas-fired power generation plant. Over the course of a year, the Buchanan team guided the client through Pennsylvania regulatory litigation resulting in a favorable resolution. The client was very pleased with the outcome. The power plant is currently under construction and will create hundreds of temporary construction jobs and approximately 30 permanent jobs while generating enough clean-burning electricity to power 390,000 homes.
