The Pennsylvania Lawyer, a feature magazine circulated by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, published Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Litigation Shareholder Howard D. Scher’s article “Think Scientifically to Win Legally,” in its September/October 2014 issue. The article discusses the role of science in the courtroom and how it can be overwhelmingly persuasive to a jury.

In his article, Scher writes, “Scientific conclusions must be based on the scientific method. And, most important, the ‘thing’ upon which the opinions of the proposed experts must be based must be the stuff of science, not guesswork, theory or supposition.”

“…attorneys [should] maintain and enhance their own knowledge of science and the scientific method in order to defend against the worst of it,” Scher continues.
