How Nathan Helps Clients

With a decade of experience, Nathan focuses his real estate law practice on development in Pittsburgh and surrounding Allegheny County. He supports clients through the life cycle of a real estate transaction starting with planning and fundraising through the permitting and construction processes.

Previously, Nathan was the chief legal officer at the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (URA), the City of Pittsburgh’s economic development agency. In that role he advised the agency’s departments and board on corporate, compliance, and tax matters. He also led the real estate transaction team at URA, managing all acquisitions, conveyances, and long-term strategic planning for URA-owned properties.

What Clients Can Expect

Nathan drives transactions and other projects for clients with a diligent attention to detail and clear communication.

In my practice, I get to help clients of all sizes and experience levels achieve their goals, from a small business buying their first storefront to a commercial developer assembling parcels for a large scale development and helping to create jobs in a community. I appreciate that real estate work is impactful on both a macro and micro level.

Proof Points

  • Spearheaded department-wide strategic planning and reorganization initiative that included utilizing URA-owned real estate assets as long-term agency funding source resulting in the URA entering into long-term ground leases and equity partnerships with private developers.
  • Prepared guidelines and lending documents for multiple new initiatives in response to COVID-related economic needs, including Childcare Reinvestment Business Fund, Small Contractor Line of Credit Program, and the Minority Business Growth Loan Fund.
  • Worked with a unique group of government agencies and nonprofits to assemble and convey parcels in downtown Pittsburgh for a first of its kind low barrier homeless shelter.

Outside the Office

Nathan lives in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh with his wife and children. Neighbors may see them walking in Frick Park or playing tennis.
