How Natalie Helps Clients

Natalie has represented healthcare providers in professional liability and insurance reimbursement litigation matters. Her clients have included long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and urgent care centers. She has helped clients with regulatory investigations conducted by state agencies and has counseled clients on training their staff to comply with new or changing regulatory requirements. Natalie also handled state and federal administrative appeals related to enforcement and recovery actions, licensing and certification applications and advice, defending governmental allegations of healthcare fraud and abuse, and nursing home survey and certification issues.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Natalie assisted clients in understanding and navigating the evolving, complex recreational and medical cannabis regulations impacting businesses operating in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She provided practical and actionable guidance throughout the license application process, including help with entity formation, due diligence, and final review of regulatory applications.

Natalie also previously represented clients in healthcare matters related to public policy. Before law school, she served as a policy intern for First Focus in Washington, D.C., assisting the non-profit advocacy organization in its mission to support the rights of children and families. Natalie also worked on federal and state legislation while interning on Capitol Hill with Former Congressman Rob Andrews (NJ) and Former Senator Max Baucus (MT).

During law school, Natalie served as a certified legal intern at Villanova University’s Interdisciplinary Mental and Physical Health Law Clinic, where she helped low-income clients understand their rights to accessible healthcare treatment and assisted several people with administrative hearings and cases in the state court. She also worked as a corporate compliance and regulatory affairs intern at AmeriHealth Caritas, which entailed summarizing federal and state regulations and communicating these laws to clients, as well as analyzing state contract language related to compliance requirements.

In addition, Natalie worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable Linda Carpenter at the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County, allowing her to observe courtroom proceedings and act as a deputy clerk when needed. During this time, she was able to hone her research skills and the ability to synthesize legal arguments during trial preparation periods. Through an assortment of internship and clerk positions, Natalie gained valuable experience preparing memoranda in criminal and personal injury cases, communicating with international clients, keeping abreast of education policy developments around the United States, creating child and family policy advocacy materials, and drafting court documents in personal injury and medical malpractice matters.
