William (Bill) Ryan is the firm’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He is responsible for the overall financial management of the firm and oversees all financial operations, including financial reporting and analytics, cash management, budgeting, negotiating and maintaining credit facilities, billing and collections, internal controls, audits and tax compliance.
Bill has more than 30 years of experience as a corporate financial management leader with a solid track record in challenging top-tier law firm environments, directing all aspects of finance function and operations to achieve financial goals.
Prior to joining Buchanan, Bill was CFO at an AmLaw100 firm during which he worked closely with the firm’s Executive Committee and managed the firm’s financial operations. He also led several projects related to compensation, implementation of cost-saving initiatives, the creation of an administrative support center and the development of client service principles. He also played an integral role in negotiation, due diligence and planning related to a merger of two AmLaw100 firms.

Outside the Office
Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Bill is an avid Washington Nationals fan. When not attending baseball games, he enjoys spending time with his family and golfing.
