Tampa, FL – September 17, 2015 – Rhea F. Law, chair of the Florida offices for Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, recently received the Deans Award for her support of USF’s College of Pharmacy. The Award, called The Bowl of Hygeia, is the most widely recognized international symbol of pharmacy, and was bestowed upon Law for her tireless efforts over the years on behalf of the University’s health professions, and particularly the College of Pharmacy.

Prior to the University presenting her with the award, Law gave the keynote address at the USF College of Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony. The event, held at the Ballroom of the Marshal Student Center, is an annual tradition where the freshman students receive their first white lab coats, a meaningful moment as they begin their rigorous studies.

Law urged students to maintain strong ethical standards, embrace change and to respect their team and the impact they have on those they serve. The College of Pharmacy is one of the newer health professions at USF and Law was a strong advocate for its launch.

Law has a long list of accolades and accomplishments. In addition to serving as chair of the firm’s Florida offices, she is also a member of the Board of Directors. She focuses her law practice in the areas of government, environmental law and land use. With more than 30 years of experience, Law handles entitlement, permitting and zoning matters with specific emphasis on commercial, industrial and residential mixed use developments throughout Florida.

As a fifth generation Floridian, Law has been intimately involved with the organizations that drive growth and economic development within the state. She has held top leadership positions with local economic development organizations and has spent countless hours advocating for Florida’s future as a premier location for attracting businesses in the healthcare, financial, technology and retail sectors.

She earned her law degree from Stetson University College of Law, her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida, an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree from Webber International University and the Honorary Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
