How Terry Helps Clients
Terry is an experienced litigator who guides clients through complex commercial litigation, labor and employment law, and products liability issues. He also advises clients on internal investigations and corporate compliance.Terry has represented clients in state and federal court as well as in administrative hearings.
Terry began his legal career representing homeowners associations and commercial landlords in disputes with residents and tenants. Prior to joining Buchanan, Terry represented and advised clients on a range of liability issues, including professional liability, products liability and premises liability.
Terry’s work in the legal profession and Charlotte community has been frequently recognized. In 2019, he was named a Charlotte Business Journal Forty Under 40 Recipient. Additionally, Terry was selected for inclusion in the 2018, 2021 and 2022 North Carolina Rising Stars® lists. In 2016, Terry was named a 30 Under 30 Award winner by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce, and in 2017 he was named the UNC Charlotte Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year. He also uses his legal skills to serve the region on the City of Charlotte Zoning Board of Adjustment. Terry was recognized by Best Lawyers in America Ones to Watch in 2022 & 2023 in the area of Commercial Litigation.

Outside the Office
When he’s not working, Terry is an avid reader and enjoys trying new restaurants and the local arts scene with his wife. Terry is also a passionate fan of Charlotte sports (Panthers, Hornets, and his beloved Forty-Niners) and can be caught at local sporting events. Terry enjoys giving back to his community and regularly participates in neighborhood and stream clean ups and other events with his Neighborhood Association.
- Represented national real estate Investment Company in litigation to remove squatters from multiple properties in the Charlotte Region.
- Represented national product line in all product liability defense in North and South Carolina.
