Four law students from Duquesne University, coached by Brock E. McCandless, Associate in Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s Real Estate Section, took first place in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Team Regional Competition, prevailing over 15 other trial teams from universities in the northeastern United States. This annual competition occurs during the Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association Convention.

McCandless’ team of Finn Skovdal, Christy Gamble, John Woodruff and Danielle Wete were one of two teams who made final arguments before actual judges of the Court of Common Pleas. The Duquesne team was victorious over the team from Harvard University. In addition, Gamble received the award for “Best Advocacy,” topping more than 60 prosecution and defense attorneys.
