Ivan J. Punchatz, a shareholder in the Health Care Section of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Princeton office, will participate in the upcoming conference "The Real Decider: Who Can Consent to Treatment?," presented by the New Jersey Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (NJAHSA). Scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2009, the program will take place at the Conference Center at the New Jersey Hospital Association in Princeton, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Understanding the issue of consent to treatment is critical in senior care. This session will explore how to determine if a resident is capable of making his/her own health care decisions; how to implement a resident's wishes; and which individuals may consent on behalf of a resident. Health care representatives, power of attorney and court appointed guardianship will also be discussed.

Punchatz will present as well as participate in a panel discussion on specific case studies.
