How Neema Helps Clients
Neema Shojai is a litigator with experience in defending a broad range of complex civil cases in state and federal courts throughout the country. His practice areas include healthcare litigation, with a concentration on defending urgent care facilities, physicians, long-term care providers, and corporate parent companies in lawsuits involving claims of medical malpractice, negligent hiring and supervision, elder abuse and neglect, fraud and misrepresentation, and alter-ego liability.
What Clients Can Expect
Neema develops creative and sophisticated litigation strategies aimed at dismantling Plaintiff's claims of professional negligence against healthcare providers and alter-ego theories against corporate parent entities, which often involves harmonizing the independent strategic interests of different clients in the same litigation.
Neema has attended over 40 law and motion hearings, including hearings on demurrers, summary judgment and summary adjudication motions, motions to compel, motions to quash, motions for a protective order, motions to consolidate, motions to bifurcate punitive damages, motions for sanctions, ex parte applications regarding the same, and more. He also regularly takes and defends the deposition of percipient witnesses and persons most knowledgeable, having taken or defended over 40 such depositions.
Neema regularly handles sophisticated discovery motions on behalf of healthcare providers and corporate parent entities and has obtained several successful rulings on Plaintiff's motions to compel the inspection and production of electronically stored data, trade secrets, and other proprietary information, and motions to compel the deposition of high-level corporate officers and other apex employees. He owes much of this success to his passion and commitment to excellent written and oral advocacy, extensive courtroom experience, and growing industry knowledge.
Outside the Office
Neema is proud to call San Diego his hometown and place of practice. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, eating and cooking exotic cuisine, hiking moderately difficult trails, staying abreast of world politics, and supporting the 17-time World Champion Los Angeles Lakers.
