Keith Arnold, senior-principal in Buchanan’s Government Relations section, was featured in a Miami Today article titled, “Legislative health aims leaning heavily to reruns.” In the article, Keith focuses on future “health-related measures likely to be proposed during the Florida Legislature’s 2017 session” and in the state’s process of breaking down The Certificate of Need (CON).

“One of the challenges is the constant turnover of the Legislature,” Mr. Arnold said. “This year, one-third to one-half of the legislators might be new. But it’s an opportunity to educate them.”

“The process [CON] is intended to prevent excess hospital capacity – industry shorthand for more supply than demand. Economics in the healthcare industry do not work the way other economic systems do, a fact that observers say is not well understood in Tallahassee.”
