How John Helps Clients

John partners with clients to protect and enforce their valuable brands. Focusing his practice on trademarks and copyrights, and related intellectual property matters, including unfair competition, false advertising, right of publicity, and new media, John leads cases throughout the country in federal court and before the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He has also led multi-pronged litigation around the world as part of global disputes.

As part of litigation, John also provides counseling, including as to the selection, adoption, and use of trademarks, and domestic and international trademark procurement and enforcement.

John represents clients from all industries, including finance, consumer products, beverage, healthcare, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, fashion, food and restaurant, art, and non-profits.

John has been repeatedly named a Washington DC Super Lawyer, Intellectual Property Litigation.

Outside the Office

John was born overseas and spent his early years in the DC area. He returned to DC many years later to pursue an LL.M. in intellectual property and has never left since. With an undergraduate degree in art history and a background in the visual arts, John has long had an interest in intellectual property for its creative aspect.

When he’s not in the office, John’s active family of two boys and three dogs keeps him busy.

  • Represented a global management consulting firm in a trademark case spanning multiple U.S. federal courts and on appeal, defeating a temporary restraining order and successfully dismissing the initial action for lack of jurisdiction.
