How Jackson Helps Clients

Jackson is an associate in Buchanan’s Charlotte Office. Prior to joining Buchanan, Jackson was an assistant attorney general for the Virginia Attorney General’s Office Environmental Section. There, he represented clients in a variety of matters. Jackson represented clients in civil litigation, bringing enforcement actions on behalf of Virginia, and criminal litigation as a special prosecutor. He also represented clients in a variety of transactional matters including contract reviews, drafting regulatory changes, bankruptcy, and real estate. 

Jackson graduated law school from the Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2023. During his time in law school, he served as a Senior Articles Editor for the Washington and Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice.

Jackson leverages his diverse experience and advocacy skills to vigorously advocate for and counsel clients. He is a strong listener and creative thinker, and he uses those skills, along with his interpersonal skills, to engage with clients and implement strategies to meet their goals.

Outside the Office

In his spare time, Jackson enjoys spending time with friends and family, spending time outdoors, traveling, and reading. He is an avid sports fan, particularly the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Scuderia Ferrari.

Proof Points

  • Represented Virginia in a complex, multi-state Bankruptcy mediation with a PFAS manufacturer.
  • Lead a Special Prosecution in Virginia for violations of Va. Code § 32.1-27, resulting in a guilty plea being entered.
  • Represented Virginia in negotiations with North Carolina, Maryland, South Carolina, The Nature Conservancy, and the EPA for an EPA grant. Jackson found the workaround in North Carolina law that helped the coalition overcome the biggest hurdle of subrecipient contract negotiations.
  • Formerly General Counsel for the Virginia Gas and Oil Board and Virginia Department of Consolidated Laboratory Services.
