On February 24, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Shareholder William A. Garvin participated as a moderator for Food Week 2015. In his panel, titled “Class Action Litigation,” speakers discussed the different stages of a class action case. Attendees learned about the increase in motions to dismiss, the “reasonable consumer” standard, certification and ascertainability trends and what’s new in settlements, especially in the 7th and 9th Circuits. Panelists included Andrew Kaplan, Partner from Crowell &Moring LLP, Kara McCall, Partner from Sidley Austin LLP and Trent Taylor, partner with McGuireWoods, LLP.
