Jill Lashay was a featured panelist at the Middle District of PA’s 2016 Bench/Bar Conference on September 23rd, where she presented a CLE titled “Employment Law: What's New and Noteworthy in 2016 - Federalizing Trade Secrets, Overtime Revamped, and More.” In addition to other esteemed attorneys and experts, this CLE panel included the Honorable Robert D. Mariani and the Honorable A. Richard Caputo. The panel provided a detailed update on the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016, the new Department of Labor regulations under the Fair Labor Standard Act regarding overtime exemptions, and a highlight of the recent Fisher v. University of Texas ruling, in which a divided Supreme Court (4-3) upheld the University of Texas’ affirmative action program. The panel included a brief update regarding Rule 26 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
