E/M Doc Changes, 'Remote' Consult Services Will Grow Slowly in 2019 - Part B News

Bob Ramsey, shareholder in the firm's Healthcare section, comments in Part B News' nine predictions of what will affect physician practices in 2019. On predictions that E/M documentation revisions will have little meaningful impact, Bob comments: "Many physicians don’t know anything different," says Bob Ramsey, health care attorney with Buchanan, Ingersoll and Rooney in Pittsburgh, who points out that the current guidelines have been in effect for more than 20 years. "You’ve done it your entire career," he adds. "Why change?"

On prediction that CMS will announce a three-code E/M series: Ramsey thinks 2019 will be relatively devoid of major developments. "I wouldn’t expect much, especially in the first half of the year," he says.
